I always find it a challenge to talk about myself, but will do my best to do so here in a way that is useful to people without trying to sound snotty. Marshall Stevenson has been designing websites since 1994 — then hand coding them in HTML. He began to focus and develop sites and applications utilizing PHP, MySQL, jQuery and other dynamic technologies roughly around the year 2000.

Over the years Marshall has developed an interest in Search Engine Optimization, or SEO as it’s known to many. His designs largely focus on designing and developing for the user, however ensuring that “on-page” code work is done to enhance SEO efforts. In 2007 his passion for SEO was further ignited when he had the opportunity to work with an experienced SEO industry pro.

Marshall largely designed the second & third UI versions of the WestJet Vacations website single-handed. The redesign efforts saw the website ranking in the top 3 consistently for competitive search terms like vegas vacation, and hawaii vacation — to name just a few. Additionally he developed a number of in-house tools to ease in the daily deployment process of specific deals, promotions and content essentially hand crafting a custom content management system (CMS) from scratch.

To stay sharp in coding and design, Marshall has undertaken a few special projects of his own that he hopes to be launching in the upcoming months. Add to that his graphic design and marketing in Calgary and he stays out of trouble and on top of trends.

On a more personal note, Marshall Stevenson is a father to the world’s cutest daughter Ava, who consistently challenges him to find ways of locking her out of his iPhone or iPad. Marshall is of course, an Apple “fan boy” as well insisting that all computers in the home are in fact Macs. Much to his happiness his partner Monica has embraced the new technology with a recent addition to the family — a 15″ MacBook Pro so that she can easily produce Canada’s best fashion and deal finder website.
